Short film by American director Ramin Bahrani (Goodbye Solo)
Voiced by Werner Herzog

SYNOPSIS
This short film by American director Ramin Bahrani (Goodbye Solo) traces the epic, existential journey of a plastic bag (voiced by Werner Herzog) searching for its lost maker, the woman who took it home from the store and eventually discarded it.

Along the way, it encounters strange creatures, experiences love in the sky, grieves the loss of its beloved maker, and tries to grasp its purpose in the world.

In the end, the wayward plastic bag wafts its way to the ocean, into the tides, and out into the Pacific Ocean trash vortex — a promised nirvana where it will settle among its own kind and gradually let the memories of its maker slip away.

FOREWORD
by Captain Charles Moore
Algalita Marine Research Institue

“If only we looked, we humans would see how much litter we leave on our shorelines and beaches. However, the plastic trash doesn’t just stay on land, or on the beaches. It floats and blows into the oceans where eventually it accumulates into huge floating garbage patches that last for a long time - much longer than your lifetime.

Fish and other sea creatures think some of this floating plastic is food, and when they eat it they can get sick or die. They also can drown if they get tangled up in plastic junk like fishing nets and lines, the wrappers for six-packs of cans, and plastic bags.
The sea creatures and shore birds were unable to tell us how much they hated this litter - until now.

Sullie the Seagull and his friends not only hate it, they decide to fight back against the polluting plague of plastic spoiling our ocean planet, just like we humans should do.

We can all help Sullie win his battles if we make sure we don’t allow this plastic june to escape into the sea when visiting the beach, and working hard to convince our friends and families to do the same. Everyone - Please Pick Up and Pack Out the Trash!”
